Santa Anita: Indavidualist is best bet for 2/27

Santa Anita Race 3

2 - Indavidualist

Speed is the key in a 5 1/2 furlong maiden sprint race and that's what is found in this three-year-old. Indavidualist has shown run in the morning workouts with 5F :59 and 4F :47 posted for trainer Kristin Mulhall. Love to see Lion Heart in the family tree and the short sprinting distance should be perfect for the speedy jockey Martin Pedroza. Look for a solid debut from Indavidualist. Bred to sprint and is simply too quick for today's field of maidens.

Fountain of Youth: Top Play is Mohaymen

Gulfstream Park Race 12

6 - Mohaymen

On the road to the Kentucky Derby for the 2016 Fountain of Youth and favorite Mohaymen looks to be head and shoulders above the competition. The three-year-old enters unbeaten while sporting the highest speed figures in the field. This will be his second start at Gulfstream and second of the calendar year after crushing the field in the Holy Bull. The favorite will be a short price but simply holds all the aces. He should also like the added distance today with Tapit in the bloodlines. Mohaymen is someone to bet in the Fountain of Youth and watch on the road to Kentucky.

Santa Anita: Amazing Lady best bet on 2/26

Santa Anita Race 5

2 - Amazing Lady

This three-year-old filly is quick and simply out classes this maiden field Thursday afternoon. Amazing Lady showed she can run in her debut after flashing sub :21 speed from the rail after breaking at the rear of the field. Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens had the mount, so the talent is there with Indian Charlie in the bloodlines. Today she has the perfect combination of dropping from maiden special weight ranks, cutting back in distance,  and quick speed from the gate. Amazing Lady is the best bet at Santa Anita for Thursday's card.

Santa Anita: Uptown Rythem best bet on 2/4

Santa Anita Race 8

8 - Uptown Rythem

This Carla Gaines trained Maiden has been a real money burner over his short career. Has been well bet in all of his starts, but has simply not lived up his billing. That all ends today though, as he drops to his lowest career Maiden race, against very weak foes, and still holds the strong connections of Gaines and jockey Rafael Bejarano. Look for a great trip under Bejarano with early speed and more than enough energy late to finally escape the Maiden ranks with a victory.

Santa Anita: Candy Boss is best bet on 1/31

Santa Anita Race 3

3 - Candy Boss

Connections have high hopes for this three-year-old filly as she was purchased for a cool $250K (highest in the field). She has been on the shelf since her debut at Del Mar, but working very well for trainer John Sadler, including a 5F :59 move a few days ago. She should be ready to rumble off the break and love the fact that jockey Joe Talamo takes the call on this filly out of the Candy Ride family. Great jockey/trainer combo is big in these Maiden Special Weight races. Look for great trip and a winning move down the lane.

Santa Anita: Sunday Rules Cal Sprint Best Bet

Santa Anita Race 6

6 - Sunday Rules

This five-year-old mare simply doesn't lose with seven wins in eight starts. She loves being the speed of the speed and that's what is needed in this 6F California Cup Sprint race. She enters this event after a dominating performance in a December Stakes, where she found herself on the lead and never looked back. Look for more of the same today. This stakes winning mare doesn't have the highest figures in the field, but she has the hasn't cruising speed to take her wire to wire.

Santa Anita: Imperious One best bet on 1/24

Santa Anita Race 4

5 - Imperious One

This Irish bred colt should be on cruise control from the start in this 1 mile event and race gate to wire for an easy victory. He is making his third start of a layoff, often the best effort, and has the highest speed figures in the field, while dropping in from the stakes class. Trainer Doug 0'Neill got a solid 5F 1:00 workout last week and everything points to this guy as the best bet of the day.

Santa Anita: Undeniable U is horse to watch

Santa Anita Race 4

11 - Undeniable U

Has solid connections in trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Victor Espinoza. Only lost because of steading hard in the lane with Silent Movies (disqualified) drifting out. This three-year-old colt was the only one making up serious ground down the stretch and should be ready to go in his second 2016 start to make amends as the favorite.

Santa Anita: Black Tie is best bet on 1/17

Santa Anita Race 6

6 - Black Tie

Usually not a fan of making a best bet in a standard claiming race, but really like the fact that trainer Rafael Becerra is doubling down on this guy. Becerra claimed him for $12,500 last time out and now moves him up to the $25,000 level. The gelding enters today after a solid 5F 1:00 workout this week and adds blinkers and ground for this first off-the-claim start. Look for him to get a nice trip and follow the smart money to the cashier.

Santa Anita: Power Cat quick beginner on 1/16

Santa Anita Race 5

8 - Power Cat

This first-time starter enters the Maiden Special Weight race without a slow workout posted. Power Cat has shown he has ability to be quick with a.m. drills of 6F in 1:10 and 3F in :34. Gone West in the family tree adds to the intrigue along with the powerful connections of trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Rafael Bajarano. This filly is one to wager on and add to the watch list.
