Former NFL QB Mark Sanchez hospitalized after being stabbed in downtown Indianapolis

Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was reportedly stabbed early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis.

According to multiple reports, Sanchez, who is currently a broadcaster for Fox Sports, was in the city this weekend for Sunday’s Colts’ game against the Las Vegas Raiders when the attack happened.

Fox Sports said in a statement that Sanchez was hospitalized and recovering in stable condition.

“We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time,” the company shared.

Sanchez, 38, played eight seasons in the NFL and was selected fifth overall by the New York Jets in the 2009 draft. He also played quarterback for USC from 2005-2008.

ESPN reports that Sanchez will no longer be part of the broadcast team for Sunday’s NFL game at Lucas Oil Stadium.

No further immediate information was released.

‘There are no words’: Man arrested in connection with hit-and-run crash that killed 13-year-old girl

Jacksonville, Fla.

Authorities in Florida say a man accused of killing a teen girl in a hit-and-run crash has been arrested.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred Tuesday night on Arlington Road North. Patrol officers arrived to find a 13-year-old girl, later identified as Genesis Webber, dead at the scene.

Surveillance footage from the area showed a truck veering off the road, hitting Genesis on the sidewalk, crashing through a chain-link fence, and continuing, authorities said.

Deputies were able to track down the suspected driver, 54-year-old Andre Myers, after the crash, thanks to him already wearing an ankle monitor.

Investigators said Myrers was identified as the driver from the evidence collected at the crash scene. He was out on bond on previous felony charges.

The sheriff’s office said patrol officers found him asleep in his truck when they arrested him on Wednesday.

Authorities said they will work with the state attorney’s office to make sure Myers faces “the full extent of the law” for his actions.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office also offered its condolences to the family who lost their young girl.

“The loss of any life is tragic, but the loss of an innocent young life makes this case much more difficult. We hope this quick arrest brings peace to Genesis’s family and friends while they mourn her loss,” the sheriff’s office said.

Loved ones have started a GoFundMe for Genesis and her family.

“There are no words for the pain I feel right now: my heart is broken, and I am just trying to breathe through each moment,” the organizer shared. “I want to be able to give my daughter the service she deserves.”

Genesis’ family said they will fight for justice and safety, as they don’t want any other family to endure what they have been going through.

‘No driver ... no clue’: Waymo driverless car stopped by police during DUI operation

Authorities in Northern California say they dealt with an unusual situation over the weekend involving a driverless vehicle.

According to the San Bruno Police Department, officers were conducting a DUI enforcement operation when they spotted a Waymo robotaxi making an illegal U-turn in front of them at a light.

Officers pulled over the vehicle, which had no human driver behind the wheel, so they had to contact the company regarding the violation.

“That’s right … no driver, no hands, no clue,” the department shared.

San Bruno police said a ticket couldn’t be issued as their “citation books don’t have a box for robot.”

The department said this was a first for the officers involved to be pulling over a vehicle without a human driver, but that Waymo was made aware of the vehicle “glitch.”

“Hopefully, the reprogramming will keep it from making any more illegal moves,” police shared.

Authorities said there is legislation in the works that will allow officers to issue notices to robotaxi companies for similar traffic violations.

Police K-9 euthanized after being severely injured during a SWAT operation

A police department in Tennessee says one of its K-9s had to be euthanized after being injured in the line of duty.

According to the Chattanooga Police Department, K-9 Diesel suffered significant injuries earlier this week while executing a security sweep during a SWAT operation.

The police department said Diesel underwent emergency surgery on Monday, but the team quickly realized that his injuries would leave him with a severely diminished quality of life.

“After careful consideration and multiple consultations with veterinary teams, the difficult decision was made to humanely euthanize him,” the department shared.

Diesel, a German shepherd, was born on Aug. 28, 2022, and joined CPD in April 2024 after coming from Southern Coast K-9 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

He was a dual-purpose patrol and narcotics detection K-9, assigned to Officer Paul Winkelman.

During his 17 months of service, Diesel had many achievements that included earning a second-place finish in narcotics detection during this year’s region K-9 trials while carrying out multiple successful apprehensions with the SWAT team.

“K-9 Diesel was a member of the CPD family and his loss is felt by all of us, especially his handler and the entire K-9 unit,” Assistant Police Chief Rusty Morrison said.

The CPD extended its gratitude to the many people and partners who helped Diesel attempt to recover from his injury.

ABC television station struck by gunfire in a drive-by shooting, police say

Authorities in California say an ABC television station in Sacramento was struck by gunfire in a drive-by shooting on Friday.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, responding officers observed at least three gunshots into a window of the building just after 1:30 p.m.

No one was injured in the shooting despite the building being occupied.

“I do not have any suspect information to release, and I don’t know a motive,” Sacramento Police Officer Anthony Gamble said. “I don’t know if this was targeted or if this was a random act. I don’t know how many shots were fired, but it does appear at least three rounds struck the building.”

Officers say they are still searching for the vehicle involved in the shooting as well as the person responsible.

Friday’s shooting comes just days after ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show indefinitely over his remarks about Charlie Kirk’s death.
