Man arrested in shooting death of 21-year-old wife, injuring newborn she was holding: police

An Indiana man is facing charges in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife and injury to their infant daughter.

According to the Kokomo Police Department, Cameron Tomlinson, 21, was taken into custody after changing his story about what happened the night of Feb. 24.

WXIN reports that officers found Tomlinson’s wife, 21-year-old Jessica Tomlinson, dead from a gunshot wound to the chest in an apartment that evening, along with the couple’s child suffering a significant hand injury.

Cameron Tomlinson reportedly told investigators that his wife had shot herself while handling a gun and holding their 1-month-old daughter.

The 21-year-old husband allegedly said that the revolver was discharged while his wife was trying to open it with one hand.

However, the outlet reports that Cameron Tomlinson’s story changed, telling officers during further questioning that the weapon had been in his hands when it discharged and struck his wife and daughter.

He then continued, saying that his wife had been holding the weapon in a way he didn’t like, so he reached out and grabbed it. As he pulled the revolver away, it went off.

Cameron Tomlinson shared that he attempted life-saving measures on his wife. But police said she was pronounced dead at the scene, with the couple’s infant daughter being rushed to Riley Hospital for Children.

Jessica Tomlinson’s death has since been ruled a reported homicide by the coroner.

Missing man rescued after being found stuck in mud for several days without food or water

Florida first responders are being credited for their work in rescuing a missing man who was stuck in mud for several days without food or water.

According to the Palatka Fire Department, 36-year-old Andrew Giddens had been reported missing on Feb. 14 before he was found alive at the Vulcan Materials Company on Feb. 23.

However, authorities say he was found stuck up to his shoulders in mud at the site near a borrow pit.

Giddens was able to talk to workers who first spotted him after a deputy told them to be on the lookout when his vehicle was found abandoned nearby.

Specialized crews worked nearly three hours to free Giddens. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is expected to recover.

“This rescue shows the power of mutual aid, training and dedication. We are grateful for the bravery and professionalism of everyone involved,” Palatka fire crews said, along with their fellow first responders.

President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that he didn’t like former President Bill Clinton being deposed amid an investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein files.

“I don’t like seeing him deposed ... they certainly went after me a lot more than that ... I like him, and I don’t like seeing him deposed,” Trump told reporters before departing the White House.

Clinton told members of Congress on Friday that he “did nothing wrong” in his relationship with Epstein and saw no signs of Epstein’s sexual abuse.

The former president faced hours of grilling from lawmakers over his connections to the disgraced financier from more than two decades ago.

“I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong,” Clinton is quoted as saying in an opening statement.

The closed-door deposition was the first time a former president had been compelled to testify to Congress.

Clinton’s wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, also sat with lawmakers for her own deposition just a day prior.

Bill Clinton has also not been accused of any wrongdoing.

“No one’s accusing anyone of any wrongdoing, but I think the American people have a lot of questions,” Republican Rep. James Comer said.

Music legend Neil Sedaka has died at the age of 86.

Loved ones confirmed the Grammy-nominated musician’s death on Friday.

“Our family is devastated by the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Neil Sedaka,” Variety shared from a family statement. “A true rock n’ roll legend, an inspiration to millions, but most importantly, at least to those of us who were lucky enough to know him, an incredible human being who will be deeply missed.”

Sedaka was known for hits such as “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do” and “Laughter in the Rain.”

The Brooklyn native scored several No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 during his peak years in the 1960s and ’70s.

Sedaka also wrote many songs that were hits for other artists and was nominated for five Grammy awards over the course of his six-decade career.

TMZ reported earlier on Friday that Sedaka was not feeling well and was taken to an area hospital on Friday morning before his death.

Woman charged after Uber Eats driver carjacked, hit and killed by his own vehicle, police say

Chicago authorities say a woman has been charged after carjacking a food delivery driver who was fatally hit by his own vehicle.

The Chicago Police Department said Montoya Perry, 33, was arrested earlier this week on charges of murder and vehicular hijacking.

Perry is accused of taking 28-year-old Daniel Figueroa’s vehicle in the 5500 block of West Flournoy Street at about 2 a.m. on Monday.

Authorities said Figueroa was struck by his own vehicle as the offender, identified as Perry, took off from the scene in his car.

The Uber Eats driver was taken to an area hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.

WLS reports that Figueroa’s girlfriend, Sandra Guerrero, had last seen him on Sunday night. The 28-year-old had just gotten off work from Amazon and was said to work extra hours for Uber Eats.

“I didn’t get any texts or call from him until his mom reached out to me at seven in the morning, saying, you know, he had passed away,” Guerrero said. “Today, it’s my son’s birthday. We had the whole day planned out ... I can’t believe it right now.”

Guerrero shared that Figueroa was a dedicated family man who treated her son like his own, working multiple jobs to help support their family.

Perry repeatedly has prior convictions and was out on pre-trial release for another incident that happened two weeks prior.

The 33-year-old remains jailed waiting for her next court appearance scheduled for March 18.
