Everyone’s favorite Christmas song is back atop the charts during the holiday season.
Billboard reports Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has moved into the No. 1 spot on its Hot 100 list once again, surging nine spots to the top spot just this week.
It was originally released on Carey’s album Merry Christmas in November 1994 and, as streaming has grown, holiday music has become more prominent on streaming services’ playlists.
The song hit the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time in December 2017 and has continued to find the top spot on the list for the past five years in a row.
“When I wrote [it], I had absolutely no idea the impact the song would eventually have worldwide,” Carey told Billboard in 2021. “I’m so full of gratitude that so many people enjoy it with me every year.”
Holiday music seems to be on a lot of listeners’ playlists as Christmas-related songs currently take up four out of the top five spots on the Top 100.
Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” has moved to No. 2 this week after being in the 15th spot last week, followed by Wham!’s “Last Christmas” and Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock.”
