An animal shelter in Maryland says it helped a new friend get adopted last week.

According to the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center, a very friendly pigeon the team named Valley was determined to have human companionship.

Staff members said they first noticed Valley outside of their adoption center.

Eventually, she decided she was tired of waiting around and hitched a ride inside the building by landing on a staff member.

The team said because Valley did not have a band and was in good health, they directed her to return to the wild.

But Valley had other plans.

Every time Valley was placed outside, she would land on a staff member and take herself back inside.

The team said on a rainy day last week that Valley landed on a staff member’s head once again but this time she stayed nestled in the staff member’s hair no matter how many other animals were around her.

So, they decided that with her love for human company and lack of survival skills, Valley would like to be put up for adoption.

And after a few days of being available, she found herself that special human.

“Thank you to everybody who fell in love with this silly bird the way we did! She was adopted and has a stellar new home!” the team shared.
