Students in Pennsylvania are being praised for their actions in helping stop their bus after the driver suffered a medical emergency.
Video from the Hollidaysburg Area School District has recently been released, showing the heart-stopping moments from the students’ ride home when the driver appeared to pass out while behind the wheel.
The students said they knew something was wrong when the bus started rolling during a stop.
In the video, the bus is seen starting to roll as students are exiting at a stop.
The students at the front of the bus are then seen jumping into action, bringing it to a stop, calling dispatch for help, and checking on the driver.
The Hollidaysburg Area School District thanked those students for their actions, including 10th grader Alexis Smith.
“Alexis took immediate action, safely bringing the bus to a stop, using the radio to call for emergency help,” the school district said.
School officials said Alexis also checked the driver’s pulse and respiration until medical responders arrived.
