Houston

A Burger King customer in the Houston area is accused of assaulting a fast food employee over being charged for a drink.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident occurred on June 24 at a Burger King located in the 2100 block of Holcombe Boulevard.

Houston police said the customer in question walked up to the counter and asked the worker for a drink cup.

When the employee attempted to charge the man for the drink, he became upset about paying for it and walked behind the counter to grab a cup of his own.

The employee tried to stop him, but that’s when he assaulted her by hitting her in the face, police said.

Houston police shared surveillance footage from the Burger King restaurant that captured the reported incident on video.

The man took off from the scene after what happened.

Police described the man as being 35 to 50 years old, about 5-foot-11, weighing 150 to 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a tan shirt and shorts with white shoes.

Authorities urged anyone with further information about the man to contact Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.

San Jose, Costa Rica

Malcolm-Jamal Warner was apparently not alone when he drowned in Costa Rica over the weekend.

ABC News reports that the 54-year-old actor was swimming with his 8-year-old daughter when surfers spotted them struggling in the water.

According to police reports, one of the men dove in and brought the child back to safety on his board while a volunteer lifeguard pulled Warner and another surfer to shore.

Mike Geist, a lifeguard instructor at the beach and one of the men who helped in the rescue, said he started emergency care on Warner, but that was ineffective.

“There were two doctors who were also here just on vacation,” Geist said. “Between the three of them, they were able to perform CPR for more than 30 minutes, probably more like 45 minutes, and unfortunately, it was not successful.”

Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Department said the actor was on a beach on the Caribbean coast that Sunday afternoon. He was swimming at Playa Cocles in Limon province when a current pulled him deeper into the ocean.

Costa Rica authorities are calling Warner’s death an accidental drowning.

Warner worked for more than 40 years as an actor and director. He was best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on “The Cosby Show” during the 1980s and ‘90s.

His final credits came in TV guest roles, including a dramatic four-episode arc last year on the network procedural “9-1-1,” where he played a nurse who was a long-term survivor of a terrible fire.

Nashville, Tenn.

In-N-Out Burger is continuing its expansion plans into Tennessee, including its owner.

The much-loved California-based hamburger chain announced plans in 2023 of opening a corporate office in Tennessee, along with restaurants in and around Nashville.

This week, its billionaire owner and CEO, Lynsi Snyder, born and raised in California, said she will be trading her roots for a new life in Tennessee.

Snyder shared her love for California, along with why she’s leaving, in a recent “Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey” podcast.

“We’re building an office in Franklin … I’m actually moving out there. I really loved living in Northern California, and I’m so thankful that I grew up there because I think it changed a lot of who I am today,“ Snyder is quoted as saying in the interview. ”I think I would be different if I were raised in Southern California. There are a lot of great things about California, but raising a family is not easy here. Doing business is not easy here."

Snyder said the bulk of the burger chain restaurants will continue to be in California, along with its headquarters. A new regional office will be opening in Franklin.

“It will be wonderful having an office … growing out there," Snyder said.

In-N-Out Burger currently has over 400 locations across eight states: California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado and Idaho.

The burger chain said it plans to open its first Tennessee restaurants in 2026.

Fortune reports that In-N-Out Burger has a net worth of $7.3 billion.
